DruivenMerlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese

• Tasting note Bolgheri Rosso Pievi 2020

Fabio Motta's Bolgheri Rosso Pievi presents itself in the glass with an intense ruby red colour. In the nose, aromas of ripe red berry fruit come together with hints of violets, vanilla, balsamic herbs and notes of tobacco and dark spices.
On the palate, the wine is elegant and enveloping, supported by supple tannins and an elegant balsamic and spicy finish.

The Pievi pairs well with aged cheeses, grilled meats and pasta with tomatosauce.

    About this wine

The Bolgheri Rosso Pievi of Fabio Motta is a blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Sangiovese grapes, from the 20-year-old vineyard Le Pievi, located at the foot of the hill of Castagneto Carducci.

Fabio sees himself as a facilitator. He leaves the grapes untouched as much as possible, with minimal intervention in the ripening process. The grapes in this blend are harvested by hand at the optimal ripening point of each variety. Fermentation takes place in 33hl oak barrels using only natural yeasts. The skins remain with the juice for about 2 weeks. After malolactic fermentation, carried out in second and third passage barriques, the wine is blended. Aging takes place for 12 months in new barriques with light toasting. No clarification or filtration is carried out.
